As writers, we each have powerful, personal, stories to tell. Sometimes they arrived well-formed and other times they must be dragged into the light, and we writers do that through craft and artistry. When I began writing, helpful notes I received were like alchemy - they magically transformed the work. But the truth is, writing is a craft that can be studied, learned and honed.
Since the start, my mantra has always been honor the writer’s intent.
From my very first job in development, I’ve been focused on the delicate art of crafting notes that are both helpful and inspiring. This didn’t come naturally for me and my abilities are just the result of an ravenous appetite to understand how stories work. From character journey to choosing just the right words that create an evocative action line, how to tell stories through images using just words on paper never stops fascinating or challenging me.
My work with writers and directors has evolved over the past decade and a half. It started with giving notes to peers. When those peers started to tell other writers about how I’d helped them, more and more requests started to come in. So, I started this small business called Third Act Screenplays, focused on straightforward, helpful services for the passionate scribe. During the pandemic, I realized just how much I enjoy working with other writers and how much I learn by teaching. So, my services continue to evolve.
We all want to share the best version of our story with the world - and that’s what I love to help writers do.
